While I was a Masters student, I came across a small, 1 credit "Introduction to Nature Photography" class being taught in my department. I took it, and discovered I loved it.
In 2011 I was awarded “Best in Show, Adult Division” at Baltimore City Recreation and Parks photo contest.
It was something I continued as I helped out with small research projects here and there. I incorporated nature photography with the research being conducted, which resulted in quality photographs that supervisors often requested for use in presentations and reports.
I realized there was a small, but interesting, niche available for good research photography, and my interest in nature photography as an instrument for ecological research and outreach began. It's something I plan to continue integrating in my future projects and outreach work.

I also have a photography page on Redbubble.
